Initial consultation:

On your first visit to us you will be welcomed by our warm, friendly reception staff. Their role is to prepare you for your consultation with our highly skilled chiropractors.

Before your chiropractic journey begins we start with your initial, no obligation consultation with the chiropractor. This first visit is designed to ensure you are in the right place to get what you are looking for, so we can determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you.

You will be asked to answer a few important questions on our health questionnaire form. By learning more about you we can start to understand how best to assist you. Here you will make us aware of any spine and health related issues, specific concerns or complaints as well as clarify your needs and goals.

We will begin to explore your health history to address any specific lifestyle factors that may be affecting your spine and overall health.

Based on the findings of your assessment the chiropractor may recommend additional tests to further evaluate your specific condition. One of the more common test’s that might be recommended is a spinal x-ray.

Our chiropractors are highly trained and licensed under the Office of Radiation Safety (New Zealand Ministry of Health) to take spinal x-rays when deemed necessary.

For your convenience we have digital x-ray facilities on site here at Dannevirke Family Chiropractic.

Techniques used:

We appreciate that every individual has different needs and comfort levels, so Dr Bacino have trained in a wide range of gentle, safe and effective adjusting techniques to suit your needs.

Dr Bacino has a special interest and has done further training in the Gonstead method including Gonstead extremity adjustments, which he applies to his practice style.

The aim of the Gonstead system is to be specific as possible when analysing the spine to find the vertebra subluxation and specific also when delivering the correct adjustment to correct it. Therefore, all the information grabbed from the analysis plus the correlation of findings are used to determine the most likely cause of the patient’s health problems. Dr Gonstead said: “you have to find the pinched nerve. You have to find the vertebra causing it. You have to have a scientific application to reposition the vertebra to take the pressure off of the nerve.” And, he added “it is amazing what and adjustment can do if applied right”.

5 Components of Gonstead analysis:

Dr Gonstead emphasised that the greater the specificity, the greater we will notice the changes in patient’s health. Therefore, the Gonstead system includes:

  • Instrumentation (Nervoscope)
  • Visualization (spine, posture, gait)
  • Static and dynamic palpation (spine, pelvis)
  • Full spine X-rays (if clinically required)
  • Signs and symptoms of each case in particular (past and present health history)
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease."
